Photo LibraryBranko Balić Photo-ArchivesBranko Balić, art historian, member of the ULUPUH (Association of Croatian Applied Artists), photographer at the Dept. of History of Art, Faculty of Arts and of the Institute for History of Art died in 1976. He left behind «Branko Balić Photo Archives», a special unit within the documentation of the Institute, consisting of over 13,000 black-and-white negatives which present the works of our artists from all realms of visual arts (painting, sculpture, architecture, applied arts, particularly ceramics and design), as well as the atmosphere and what we now experience as historic situations from the milieu of the '60s and '70s. His works are a document of that period as well, because they provide us with a series of excellent portraits of figures from public life, mainly art and theater. His oeuvre is of great importance because he continuosly registered the work of some Croatian artists. Since some of the works he had photographed have been destroyed or lost, they have thus survived in the archives, accessible to experts at the Institute for History of Art. |
